Lee Common Church of England School

Vacancy for Senior Teacher

Required for January or Easter 2019

Senior Teacher

(Assistant Head Opportunity also available for exceptional candidate)

The governing body of Lee Common CE School and Larks Nursery are looking for a talented, caring and committed teacher with extensive knowledge and experience of Early Years and Key Stage One to take on a senior part time role within our school and nursery. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience at Senior Leadership level within Primary Education with a focus on raising the attainment and progress of children in the Early Years and Key Stage One. Our organisation is based on the philosophy of excellence through nurture and the successful candidate would need to lead others in developing the whole child by making full use of our extremely broad curriculum and unique environment. The post offers the right candidate an exceptional opportunity to lead practice in an exciting and vibrant setting.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Substantial and successful experience teaching children in the Early Years and/or KS1
  • The ability to inspire others and lead subjects and projects over both the school and nursery
  • The ability to teach across all areas of the new primary curriculum/EYFS.
  • The ability to plan, prepare and present engaging lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class
  • To be a role model for other teachers in creating a highly stimulating classroom environment for the pupils in their care
  • To take responsibility for the progress of the children in his/her class with the ability to reflect on data and plan appropriate intervention alongside our Inclusion Leader
  • To develop excellent behaviours for learning within the pupils in his/her care
  • To provide high quality marking and feedback which enables all pupils to understand their next steps
  • To demonstrate an instinctive awareness of children’s wellbeing
  • To be a highly effective communicator with pupils and their parents
  • To keep up to date with the changes and developments in education
  • To be adept in the use of ICT both as a communication and learning resource

Experience working as a Designated Senior Lead/Person and experience working in a small, village school would also be valuable when applying for this post.

The successful candidate should be comfortable being left in charge of the school and nursery when the Headteacher is working away from the campus. Experience as a senior Leader would therefore support applications for this position.

We can offer you:

  • Delightful, well behaved children who are highly motivated to learn
  • Small class sizes
  • A unique and historic setting
  • Commitment to your professional development
  • Excellent career development opportunities working with other experienced Senior Leaders who have held a range of previous leadership positions in a number of schools
  • The opportunity to work differently to achieve the best results for our children

Please note that this post will be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks as our school community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care.

The position will initially have a teaching commitment in Year 1 but is likely to be based in Reception moving forward.
