Welcome to Larks Nursery Class.
Our names are Mrs Couzens and Mrs Crooks and we are the Early Years Teachers and Mrs Dougherty is our Nursery Lead. The children in Larks are also supported by Ms Davies, Ms Brennan, Miss Martin, Miss Hartley and Mrs Thomas.
We have plenty of fun in the Early Years, ensuring our children learn through a range of play based self-initiated activities and teacher led activities in a stimulating learning environment both inside and out.
Activities include all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, with learning encouraged through play, for example, encouraging early writing through mark-making and letter formation in sand, or writing through play in the role-play areas.
Our indoor activities include the role play areas, the reading area, the malleable table, the craft table, the small world area, the construction area and the games mat. Mark making and maths are built into all of the areas. The children enjoy weekly yoga and PE sessions.
Outdoors we have a range of different activities and resources, including sand, water, soil, mud, a builder’s yard, outdoor kitchen, a playhouse, music area and climbing apparatus. We also have a wonderful meadow to play!
Our topics are flexible and reflect the interests of the children, for example we have learnt about “Ta-da! Let me introduce”, “Festivals around the World” and “Shh, close your eyes and listen”.
