Physical Education

Our Vision for Physical Education at Lee Common CE School

PE is an important part of our curriculum and allows all children to have their moment to shine, as well as promoting fitness. A variety of sports and physical activities are taught to children during their time at Lee Common, supporting and challenging every child to develop their sporting skills, values and transferrable life skills, such as fairness and respect, as well as those of teamwork, co-operation and sportsmanship. We inspire our pupils through fun and engaging P.E. lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. Lessons are mostly led by qualified sports coaches, providing all children with high quality P.E. and sport provision, although teaching staff also take on certain elements, such as the Dance, Fitness and many of the Physical Development elements. Children are active and show enjoyment throughout their PE lessons. They have access to high quality resources, which enable them to participate fully in a wide variety of sports and are given opportunities to take part in competitive sport. Children leaving Lee Common go on to succeed in sports, becoming successful athletes in the future.

Teachers promote a healthy lifestyle by teaching children the benefits of sporting activities and their effect on the body. Children are engaged and motivated within the lessons, as well as keen to engage in the wide range of extra-curricular sporting activities, which are readily available at lunch times and after school.
